Aline earned her B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. During her undergraduate career, she joined Dr. Dipali Sashital's laboratory to characterize the biochemical activity of proteins involved in bacterial antiphage defense systems. She also worked at Skroot Laboratory Inc., a biotech startup that develops sensors for non-invasive, continuous monitoring of bacterial and mammalian cells. Aline joined the Voorhees laboratory in 2024 to perform CRISPRa and CRISPRi screens for identifying novel biological pathways. In her free time, she enjoys rooting for her home nation of Brazil in soccer and going to the beach.
