Joining the lab
We are hiring at all levels and are actively recruiting creative and motivated individuals.
Research Staff
The lab is recruiting senior research scientists with expertise in cell biology, biochemistry, and/or cryo-electron microscopy. Interested applicants should send their CV, a brief cover letter describing their research experience, and contact details for three references to Rebecca Voorhees.
We are also hiring research technicians who would like to gain experience in molecular and structural biology, as well as assist with general lab maintenance. Interested applicants should contact the lab with their CV and a brief description of their scientific background and why they wish to join the lab. Previous molecular biology experience is an advantage.
Applicants interested in flexible or part time positions would be considered.
Postdoctoral Candidates
Prospective postdoctoral fellows should send their CV, a brief cover letter describing their previous research, as well as the contact information for three references to Rebecca Voorhees. Candidates from diverse scientific backgrounds are encouraged to apply, though previous experience in cell biology, biochemistry, X-ray crystallography, and cryo-electron microscopy would all be beneficial.
Graduate Students
Prospective graduate students must apply directly to a Caltech graduate degree program, including, but not limited to Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Biology and Chemistry. Prospective students are encouraged to contact the lab early in the process by sending their CV and a brief cover letter describing their previous research and why there are interested in the lab.
Current graduate students who are interested in rotating in the lab should email Rebecca Voorhees to discuss possible projects.
Undergraduates
Students from all academic options are encouraged to apply, though preference will be given to students looking for multi-term projects. Interested applicants should send the lab a brief cover letter describing why they are interested in joining the lab and what they hope to gain from the experience.
Support is available through the Caltech Student-Faculty Programs.
