Dr. Guna received her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto in Neuroscience and earned her PhD at the Medical Research Council Laboratory of Molecular Biology in Cambridge, supported by a Gates-Cambridge fellowship. As a PhD student with Dr. Ramanujan Hegde, Dr. Guna studied how membrane proteins are synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum. Dr. Guna has been a joint postdoc between the Voorhees and Weissman labs (MIT, Whitehead Institute) since 2018, and was supported by an independent fellowship from Human Frontier Science Program. In 2023, she received a K99 award from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS).
